It may be Summer time, but that doesn’t mean our immune systems don’t need extra support! Even during Summer months, our sensitive immune systems can be dragged down with endless stressors. Case and point: the day after I wrote this post, I came down with a cold*. In the middle of June. But, don’t worry, I’ve got some immune-boosting secrets for Summer that healed me up in no time!

Vitamin C– one of nature’s most potent antihistamines- increases IgE antibody response and helps your body fight off invaders, including allergens. Citrus fruits, including oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruits, are loaded with vitamin C and a great way to keep your immune system strong. Dehydration is real concern during Summer, especially in here in Texas. Consuming electrolytes can keep you adequately hydrated on hot, Summer days or when enjoying an alcoholic beverage (or two). And by electrolytes, I don’t mean gatorade or powerade (aka sugar water). The best sources of electrolytes include: unrefined sea salt, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Electrolytes are necessary for proper water absorption, enzyme activity, and more, so it’s important to consume electrolytes regularly.
