12/2/19 Update: I have been using Flying Cow tallow daily since May and I am just as in love with it as ever! I recently tried their seasonal scents (Wintergreen, Peppermint Latte, and Vanilla Mint). Vanilla Mint is hands-down my favorite.
Since using Flying Cow tallow, I’ve had far less breakouts (which I think is partially due to my diet, as well), my skin tone has definitely evened out, and I no longer suffer from dry skin. In fact, I’ve turned several family members and friends onto the tallow, too. We all love it!
I recently discovered the Flying Cow brand on Instagram and was immediately intrigued by their products. I could tell from the get-go that Britney (the owner) was passionate about holistic skincare and health. Having personally struggled with acne, uneven skin tone, and combination (oily, yet dry) skin for most of my life, I was very intrigued by her approach to skincare. Flying Cow sells a variety of all natural, tallow skincare products- which I have fallen in love with!
You are probably thinking, “What the heck is tallow and why would I put it on my skin?” Honestly, I had the same thought at first. So, let’s dive into the what, why, and how of tallow for skincare.
[Flying Cow sent me several pieces of educational information about their skincare products, including how they came to be. To read more about the heart behind the brand, visit the Flying Cow website. Disclaimer: all the information shared below is based on Flying Cow content.]

What is Tallow?
Tallow is an oil that naturally occurs in animal skin. Flying Cow uses tallow from organically farmed and grass-fed/finished cows in combination with organic oils (like coconut and essential oils). The amazing quality of these skincare products ensures high amounts of fatty acids and vitamins to benefit and improve the health of our skin.
Why Use Flying Cow?
It may or may not come a surprise to you that our skin is the largest organ in our bodies. As a result, it quickly absorbs all health and beauty products we apply. For this reason alone, we should take extreme caution when it comes to the skincare products we use. Tallow naturally contains an abundance of fat-soluble vitamins and activators (only found in animal fats). These vitamins and minerals provide our skin with antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer properties. Tallow is specifically helpful with various skin conditions, like acne, eczema, rashes/redness, sunburn, dryness, etc.
How to Use Tallow on Your Skin
The “how” of cow tallow is the fun part. Flying Cow offers several different whipped tallow products, including my personal favorite coffee bean. The various essential oils provide different fragrances and health benefits. The majority of the tallows are applied 1-2 times a day after cleansing. For example, after washing my face by way of the oil cleansing method, I apply tallow in place of moisturizer. However, instructions for each tallow product are provided on every jar.
As Flying Cow shares on their website, if “farm to table” is a thing for food, why isn’t “farm to face” a thing for skincare? What we apply to our skin is just as important as the foods we put into our bodies.
In fact, I have been so impressed with the heart behind Flying Cow and their “farm to skin” products that we decided to team up for giveaway!
